 "The creative process for me is always intense, determined, experimental.  I see every painting whole;  complete in my mind, as I once, as an architect, saw structures complete on site, and then set about making the drawings to realize their construction.

In my paintings, I begin with a dark canvas.  I sketch in paint what I am about to do.  I do not draw guides on the canvas.  I paint quickly, channeling my ability, everything I've learned as an artist to keep pace with my racing mind's vision for the new work.  It is my pursuit of an expression - not just an image, but an expression that preserves and reflects the emotion of the "place" that I saw...the landscape.

The act of painting is intimately personal for me.  It is an act that habitually - at times bluntly- points to my own limitations as an artist. It is never soothing or relaxing.  No, this is not a pastime.  It is a necessity."
